1979: I Became A Literary Giant At Peking University

Chen Ling, who has been a Chinese teacher all his life, returned to Jiangcheng in 1979.
He only did two things in his life:
"Get admitted to Peking University first!"
"Be a literary giant at Peking University!"
...
Years later, Yu Hua recalled this, he said:
"Tiesheng was very greedy. When he was caught stealing watermelons, Mo Yan and Chen Ling ran away. He was still in the watermelon field, and only I stayed with him."
Mo Yan: "Chen Ling was not a good character. He took us to steal watermelons. After he was discovered, Chen Ling tied Yu Hua to Tie Sheng's wheelchair, pulled me and ran away, leaving the two of us in the melon field, like a rich man yelling at an old cow to plow the fields!"
